Logging fridge & freezer temperatures

Regular temperature checks are core HACCP. Seito uses a 'minimum checks' model: each area (fridge, freezer, ambient) has a target range and a number of expected checks per shift. The dashboard counts towards compliance only once the minimum is met. Out-of-range readings raise an Action Log entry automatically.

Add your temperature areas

Go to Temperatures › Settings, click 'Add area'. Name it (e.g. 'Walk-in fridge'), pick a type, set the target min/max (typically 1–5°C for fridges, ≤−18°C for freezers), and assign it to a shift.

Set check frequency

Choose how many checks are required per shift. Seito only flags an area as 'overdue' once the shift is well underway and the minimum hasn't been met.

Log a reading

From the Temperature Log (or directly from the Daily Checklist, where tapping the area card opens the dialog), enter the reading and confirm. Numeric inputs use the decimal keypad on mobile. In-range turns green; out-of-range turns red and prompts a corrective action.

Missed a reading?

If you forgot to record a temperature earlier, log it as soon as you can. The timestamp is set automatically to the current time, so add a note (e.g. 'Missed 10:00 check — unit was reading 3°C on thermometer') to keep the audit trail transparent.

Corrective actions

Out-of-range readings require a corrective action note (e.g. 'Adjusted thermostat', 'Moved stock to alternative fridge'). Seito automatically opens an Action Log entry linked back to the reading for traceability.

Review history & export

Use the History tab to filter readings by date range and export as CSV — staff name, timestamp, reading, in-range status, and corrective action are all included.

Tips

  • Use a calibrated probe thermometer — clip-on dial thermometers aren't reliable enough for HACCP.
  • If a unit is consistently borderline, raise an Action Log entry even when readings are technically in range.
  • Check temperatures at the start of each shift so any overnight failures are caught early.
