Shift handover & daily emails
The Shift Handover surface tells the next shift what changed since the previous open day. A compact widget on the Site Dashboard shows the headlines (red border = failures, orange = misses, neutral = all clear), and the full /handover page breaks the detail into three numbered sections.
What's in the handover
Three sections: (1) Failures — out-of-range temperatures, rejected deliveries, 'No' periodic check responses; (2) Misses — cleaning tasks not done and temperature shortfalls (yesterday only — today's still in progress); (3) Open Actions — every unresolved Action Log entry, capped at 8 with a link to the full log.
Window logic
The window is 'previous open day' — so a Monday morning handover covers Saturday's activity. Closures and the weekly schedule are respected automatically; if you're not open Sunday, Sunday is skipped.
View on the dashboard
Open the Site Dashboard and the handover widget sits between the hero CTA and the Daily Logging section. Read at a glance, click through for detail.
Open the full /handover page
Click into the widget for the full breakdown with timestamps, areas, and links to source records and the Action Log.
Set up the daily email
On the /handover page, scroll to 'Daily handover email' (manager-only). Toggle it on, pick a local send time and timezone, and add recipient email addresses. Save. Cron checks every 15 minutes and sends to each recipient once per local day, with an AI-generated summary plus failures and open actions.
Send a test email
Use 'Send test email now' inside the settings card to fire the email immediately to the configured recipients without waiting for the schedule.
Tips
- Add your AM head chef, your KP lead, and the duty manager to the recipient list — three people typically covers handover.
- If a day's all clear, the handover is short and reassuring — that's the point.
- The handover is read-only by design; resolve issues via the Action Log so the audit trail stays clean.
