Seito / Help guides

Customising roles & permissions

Beyond the five built-in roles, Seito lets Owners and Admins toggle 18 individual permission keys per role from a dedicated settings page. This is how you tailor the app to your operation — for example, letting Supervisors approve return-to-work declarations, or stopping Staff from editing cleaning settings.

Open Roles & Permissions

From the Business Dashboard, the 'Roles & Permissions' card sits between Business Details and your Sites list. Click into it. The page is gated to Owners and Admins.

Review the matrix

Each row is a permission key (e.g. 'Manage cleaning settings', 'View compliance report', 'Resolve actions'). Each column is a role. Tick the boxes to grant; untick to remove.

Save changes

Changes are saved immediately and take effect the next time the affected user loads a page. There's no 'publish' step.

Owner role is locked

The Owner role always has every permission and can't be edited — it's the safety net. Ownership transfer is a support-only action; email support@seito.app if you need to move ownership to a new person.

Tips

  • Start with the defaults — they reflect typical UK kitchen operations.
  • If you're unsure whether to grant a permission, leave it unticked. It's easier to grant later than to discover someone deleted something they shouldn't have.
  • Use the Audit / History tabs in the modules to confirm a permission change is having the effect you wanted.
