Printing the allergen matrix
The Allergen Matrix is a printable back-of-house document showing every menu item against the 14 UK allergens. It uses your published branding (logo and accent colour) and is designed to be pinned in the kitchen or handed to an EHO during inspection.
Open the matrix
From the Allergen Management page, click 'Allergen matrix'. The on-screen view shows the same layout that will print — your branding at the top, items down the side, allergens across the top.
Print directly
Use your browser's Print command (Ctrl/Cmd + P). The page is set up landscape by default to fit all 14 allergens on a single row without clipping.
Download as PDF
Click 'Download PDF' to generate a branded PDF using jsPDF. Allergen names rotate 90° in the header so the columns stay narrow, and the legend (X = contains, (m) = may contain, blank = not present) sits on every page.
Customise what shows
Branding (logo, accent colour, business/site display name) is pulled from your active allergen publication. Update it on the Allergen Management page and the matrix updates next time you open it.
Tips
- Print fresh copies whenever you republish allergen data — the matrix is a snapshot at the time you generate it.
- Keep one printed copy in the kitchen and a digital PDF in your shared drive.
- If you don't have branding set, the matrix uses Seito defaults — black header, no logo.
